I love natural wedding photos, that show true feeling and emotion.
I also love to capture all the details, your gorgeous dress, the beautiful shoes, the amazing centre pieces and incredible flowers. Then of course there’s the ceremony, the all-important (but not necessarily formal) group photos, the speeches, the cutting of the cake, the first dance – the list goes on … but what do I do in between? I capture memories – moments the bride and groom might not even themselves know happened until they see their photos. Your friends ripping it up on the dance floor, mums having a little tear, grandpas with the proudest look in their eye, dads dancing (they haven’t banned this at weddings yet!!), flower girls picking up and re-scattering bits of confetti, grannies having a few sherries and a good old natter, children playing, guests just sitting having a quiet moment or having a cuddle (weddings have this effect on most people!)… These candid moments are the ones that make it for me. That’s my style and it’s why I love my job so much I just become a part of the day, mixing and mingling in, chatting and laughing with your guests – not bossing them around to look at me or stand over here or do this or do that.
I’m not a very traditional wedding photographer but not the most far-out, alternative photographer either – somewhere in the middle between the two but happy to sway either way if it suits your wedding and your style!
On a family shoot I go for what I call a “lifestyle” approach – I join you on a fun outing to the beach, on a countryside or woodland walk or a visit to a pretty local garden or park. Then you play, throw stones in the sea, build sand castles, pick flowers, have piggy-back rides and generally laugh about with each other and I run around capturing it all. Simples!
We can do a few “safe” – smiley – looking at the camera shots too or if you prefer, I can come to your home and set up one of my many studio backdrops (essential for newborn shoots) or use your own lounge or back garden and we can do some fun and/or some still portraits.
The choice is yours and I always have a chat with you about your specific taste and what you would like your images to look like and reflect before hand. And the results….? Fun natural shots and fun natural smiles all round, plus a HUGE final selection of my unique style of edited images for you to chose your favourites from afterwards.
